i know i make a post like this every other week but like. can we PLEASE stop characterizing fanartists as braindead clout chasers? whenever the topic of getting your art exposed to an audience is brought up you always get at least one person who says shit like "only fanart gets noticed so if you're desperate for exposure just draw fanart lululululul" like somehow people who enjoy/exclusively draw fanart aren't doing it to express their love for their favorite series/character but more for useless internet points. i only draw fanart and it's really sad to hear again and again that my genuine love letters to the characters i adore are simply cheap cloutwhoring attempts and it really devalues the real passion and love that i and any other fan of a series put into our pieces :( i can guarantee that me and pretty much every other fanartist you meet isn't drawing fanart to beat the instagram algorithm/farm likes/whatever, we do it because the things we draw mean a lot to us! way more than a like notification for sureOct 12, 2021
