I am pretty aligned with Bluefalafs it was so scary my first term last semester and $ IS a scare but God I've found it worth it.
Call me a broken record but the friends I've made have been a life change and that freedom of going out having fun and doing what you want it's such a joy. Depending where you're going everything might be close by so going out can be a bus trip away. I personally am in a popular city and required to dorm so if you are ending up in a place such as that or need to dorm DO IT !! It really makes you apart of the community and I've found it to be quite nice being in such close perramators to friends. So whenever I'm alone or want a buddy I know I'll have them because they're right there. It's been such a delight as seasonal depression and cloudy weather has been around
Another thing I've found is just how open minded and friendly people can be. From my experience I've found that folk are EXTREMELY accepting. Most people are so non judgemental and the ones that are have a stick up their ass but I've found that more than likely people will laugh with you and you have so much fun being cringe and ironic together <33

you will meet some of your best friends for life. I went to art school decades ago and still talk to some of the people I went with.

ugh fine, I’ll give you reasons to go as a former art student:
- you can now speedrun your art mastery
- consume/create art every day
- your teachers can be your window into the art industry of your choice
- lotsa other people who also do art around you
- sketchbook collection go brrrrrr
a lot will depend on your school and course you’re taking however, so I can’t say much about how smooth your experience will go.

Depends on the school, so probably have better teacher than others. Hardest thing can be deciphering good from bad advice. Reasons to go, would to be inspired by a group of like minded people, get some close friends who share similar interests

You can totally back out cause I backed out right after orientation.
If you're in the US, huge student loan debt and artistic burnout are big deterrents especially when you can take online art classes and actually interact with pros online via social media.

At first I was really scared, because I was leaving my childhood friends behind and extremely worried of making new friends as an introvert.
But the majority of teachers and students were so open hearted, it also helped that in that specific year pretty much everyone were geeks or weabos. The art teacher was so annoyed of seeing cartoonish/anime art styles instead of realism
Recently got my product design degree, currently thinking about doing a master maybe not sure yet.

When you first start it may be really tough but I promise it's all worth it! (trying to encourage myself too
) but fr though just 1 term of art school and I've already improved so much and did things I never thought I could accomplish!
