I hear it was so that butchers wouldn’t slip in blood after butchering the animal. The heel would offer some support.

Yup! Did you know pink used to be the boy color because it’s just soft red and red is associated with bravery, and blue was the girl color cause I’d was associated with the Virgin Mary?
