I think its a good way to help with poses or other things that people may struggle on.
I dont trace exactly, but if Im struggling I take my reference photo, trace over it into rough shapes then recreate those shapes into my sketch. It helps but if you find just straight up tracing easier, then you could do that, but just don't trace other people's art, then it's alright <3

If it's for practice and leave it to yourself then yeah it's a great way to practice art even I do it!
But if you share it then the problems start to happen...
And if you post it saying it's yours then you know the artfol community banned immediately :)
(Oh and if you don't share it online but show it to your friends saying it's your, just don't do that :( )

it can be good practice - it definitely helped me, but don’t rely on it too much and definitely don’t trace other people’s art to use as your own

It's fine, and a really good way to learn how to draw certain shapes/features directly. Sort of like using a reference, it's a really good learning mechanic.
It's only a problem if you post art and claim it to be 100% yours, or if you make money off of the traced art. Commisions & such shouldnt be traced.

i think it’s okay, as long as the things you trace that you plan on posting online are references and not other people art. I also think it’s okay to trace other peoples art to understand their style and anatomy is okay too. i do think if an artist requests not to have their art trace for practice, you should respect that.

Tracing is very good for learning art as long as you're taking the time to understand the piece you're tracing. Understanding why a part moves a specific way and how you could draw it. Gives a good understanding.

I always recommend it and every art teacher I head recommended it. When you really trace line by line you will not learn anatomy or anything, buuut what’s even more important to learn before you can start with the big topics on how to draw something? How to hold your pen right, how to make straight lines, how to make curvy lines. I always see beginner artists that question why and how someone draws clean outlines etc… and that is how. Muscle memory. Trace as much as you can off of your favorite cartoons/ animes and you will get a better understanding for lines

If it's from a stock photo or dedicated pose reference then I don't mind, especially if it's to help get a better grasp on form/anatomy/posing. If you're gonna post it, then it'd be nice to link back to that image if possible.
If it's someone's ART however, or any medium the creator simply says they don't want it traced/reused/etc, then it's damn rude to do so. No one should trace other people's art.

•I did trace when I was a really young artist to learn. So I think if you have no idea about drawing it's okay but you shouldn't say it's your work when you trace.
