My bubby's back in her apartment from rehab (physical)! Cleaned a bunch of stuff and cleared off her table while she slept after making her dinner. Enjoyed while the most of helping her was bringing things and visiting but honestly should have cleaned more while she wasn't there because now I still have so much to dooooOct 22, 2025

Bubby is a cute title 🙃 Reminds me of when I was 4 years old, and we had just moved from the house where we lived when I was born to where I would spend the rest of my childhood. Two of our new neighbors were an elderly couple that lived two doors over from us, Ruth and Pat. The husband Pat passed away fairly early on, I'm wanting to say three or four years after we moved there, but Ruth ended up being a long time neighbor and was just the sweetest lady. I found out soon after when I started elementary school that she was a library aide at our school library. There were many days (I don't remember if you got to read my post from a few months back, but my mom was in and out of hospitals throughout my childhood), that Ms. Ruth was my ride to school when I had no one to take me, before I was old enough that my parents were comfortable with me walking to school. And she was always happy to do it, even though it meant I had to get up earlier ( because she had to get there like 30 or 45 minutes before school started) and I wasn't always so happy about that 🤣. Anyway, all that to say this: She was a very sweet lady, and I came to understand this very early on. And not long after we moved there, I made friends with a few other little kids on that street. One of them one day was talking about their Mamaw, and it made me kinda sad, because I didn't have a Mamaw. Nevermind that my Dad's stepdad - who though he was not my blood relative was the only grandfather I ever knew, and as good of a grandpa as any kid could have - was always known to me as Papaw, and I knew that title was synonymous with Grandpa. Somehow my little 4 year old brain never made the connection that a Mamaw was just a Grandma. So one day I saw Mrs. Ruth sitting on her front porch, as she often did, and I very seriously asked her if she would be my Mamaw because I didn't have one. Of course she said yes, and then later she was talking to my mom and found out that I indeed had two grandmothers 😁
