️I have got a question in revelance to the daily art challenge in October. I know many artists have been creating their own list with different titles like "Artober," "Goblintober," "Drawlloween," etc. But at the end of the day, would they still fall under as "Inktober?" I actually missed the memo that inktober was about INK for like. 5 years straight 
but i got so used to stressing about it every year that i still do it (without ink) and slap the inktober tag over whatever i produce. I also feel like inktober has developed more into drawtober where people use all sorts of media for it and i haven't yet seen someone actually getting shit over not specifically using ink, so. Idk.

•Inktober isn't a broad term - it's one specific challenge where you're supposed to use ink based mediums for a month. That's what it was always meant to be. Some people started using "inktober" it for "one drawing a day" challenges to kinda join in, but it was always supposed to be about the ink.
It's the most well known monthly challenge, but it's also gotten controversial over the last few years. So people made alternatives for the same month, as the art community had gotten used to doing a big challenge in October specifically.
One per day challenges usually just pick whatever month the pun kinda works best on, lol. Mermaids are may because is smooshes well together. August is dragons because Smaug (one of the most famous named dragons) leads well into August. They're usually not related to each other, though you can combine whatever challenges you please (like, a subject challenge PLUS a medium challenge).

•If you want yours to you can if it's still relevant to inktober. There was a huge debacle with the inktober creator possibly plagiarizing another artist's book in his inktober book. So because of that some artists who remember that incident decided to not use inktober and use drawtober, sketchtober as direct alternatives.
Inktober is about intentionally using ink or ink techniques. People who do oil paintings but use inktober are just using it to up their own work. So I wouldn't say people should slap inktober on anything they do just cause inktober is the most popular.
