Has any of you guys ever struggled with procrastinating or self-discipline? Any advice on how to actually get things done? (speaking about art, of course)May 21, 2021

Definately break things down in order of importance. Make sure to self care! Drink water, exercise, sleep well. Sometimes you're fatigued and don't know it. As for discipline, start small and build up good habits. Maybe make a check list of simple tasks you need to do and check them off. Reward systems are also great influencers to work well. Maybe work for an hour and get a video break for a little bit. Etc.💕
Take baby steps and forgive yourself. Forming a habit takes time and sometimes multiple tries. Eventually it will stick
Hello, I am Prof. Harbinger and I have a PHD in Procrastination.

Here is my Ted talk:

1) Start small. Let's say you want to become a master at drawing cabbages. Start by dedicating 5-10mins every day to cabbage drawing and learning. Then every month add 5 extra mins. (You decide how much time you think is right to start with and add. But starting so small you can't possibly fail is always good as a minimum.)

2) Create an inspirational environment. Surround yourself with things that inspire you to act. For example, follow the best cabbage drawing artists on Twitter, Instagram, etc so that every time you open those apps you are reminded of what you aspire to be.

3) Remove distractions: Maybe you sat down and prepared yourself to draw a magnificent cabbage but then oh no! You got distracted! It's time to block distractions. During the time you set out to draw those leafy spheres make sure to block any distracting websites and hide your phone in a drawer. Until you finish your drawing session, focus only on drawing.

These are 3 tips at the top of my head. Hope at least one helps XD
I’ve found writing a checklist of things I want/need to do for the day, every morning really helps me organize things. I then check it off before going to bed. It’s always a joy when I check everything off. A good dose of dopamine before bed.

I’m a really big procrastinator. One thing I’ve been trying to do to combat this, is to not give myself time to think. Just move to a schedule, don’t lose momentum. Which can be hard to do.

Another thing I’ve noticed is if I don’t get enough sleep, I get really demotivated, and just don’t feel like doing anything. So sleep is important, at least for me.
There are times after work when I just feel too tired to do anything, but I know I'll feel unhappy if I don't do any art. So I promise myself something super easy like "1 minute of painting or draw 4 lines".

After that, either I do have the energy to do more and just needed a little push, or I get solid confirmation that I should rest. Either way, the tiny feeling of accomplishment is better than regret for not trying!
i know it doesn't help for everyone but when i don't feel like drawing or stuff like that i watch speedpaints. it makes me wanna try stuff and actually START DOING SHIT
