Why are art trades just two people who draw each other's ocs in their styles. I don't get it, (I am not hating on people who do art trades, this is the reason why I said in the disclaimer to not hate on me). Just asking though :PApr 17, 2023

They aren’t! Art trades aren’t soley drawings! Some people trade plushies, 3D models, little sculptures, fursuit/costume parts, etc!
The reason why (it’s usually drawings) is probably because both of the artists like the way each other draw/the usual subjects each other draw + drawings are probably the easiest/cheapest to make!

Also it doesn't have to be ocs, it's just that it's the most common one. You can for example draw a fanart of each other's favourite character. It's entirely up to what you and the other person agree on

If two artists like each other's styles, they might do an art trade because they would like to see their character drawn in the likeness of the other artist. Not just for accuracy but how the other artist captures the character's vibe and charisma.
