So I created YET ANOTHER world
There isn't exactly a plot, just an excuse for me to imagine I'm interacting with a bunch of kemonomimi cus I'm obsessed with kemonomimi and want an army of them to myself
Concept:
So the concept is that essentially this one guy (I'm thinking he's a human) ends up making a kemonomimi sanctuary for kemonomimi who don't have homes. He also rescues kemonomimi from abusive homes and places.
In this sanctuary, they get to choose to have a job or to not, and when they have a job they are paid without discrimination. They are granted full independence, though the ones without jobs are cared for and provided with their wants and needs.
The owner of the sanctuary wanted to provide a safe, equal environment for the kemonomimi as he knows they are more than just exotic pets. And he even allows them to leave the sanctuary and find another home if they make that choice. Though they don't usually make that decision.
Background on the world:
Kemonomimi are taken as exotic pets by humans, vampires, and elves. They basically justify it as that it's better for them because the owners work and deal with life but the kemonomimi pets get to live in peace and comfort being tended to their every need
Except the problem with that is that some bad people abuse them, or they sometimes live on the streets or in kemonomimi pounds because they have more rights than the animals but aren't allowed jobs as they're pets. Some are used in human jobs such as firefighters or other animal jobs, but unless they're hired as an independent, aren't paid and are instructed by their owners.
It's not illegal for a kemonomimi to have a job, but most people won't hire them as they think smaller brain = less intelligence (which isn't entirely true, intelligence is more complicated than that). Their anatomy and psychology is a bit different from humans, closer to animal than human in non-visual traits, but more human in appearance (minus the additional animal features like ears and tail).
In humans the brain takes up enough space that putting ears on the top of the head wouldn't be feasible as it wouldn't allow the muscles and other things that would allow the ears to function. To fix that, I decided they have smaller brains to allow the necessary ear anatomy, but basically equal to human intelligence (slightly more intelligent than humans).Nov 8, 2025
