Charge at least $35-45 and take a couple simple commissions at first so you can get the hang of it. Take at least half the payment up front if not all of it, and don’t send them the full finished file until after you have the whole payment. Be confident in your work and trust yourself as an artist!

be confident in your ability! don’t undersell your art or haggle over prices too much! if you charge what you think your art is worth, people who really enjoy it will be happy to pay that price! Something that helped me figure out what i wanted to do was looking at the commission rates of artists i admired and based my prices, (slightly differentiated due to difference in skill-set, experience and demand), on theirs!

Make sure you outline exactly what the client is getting from the get go and a 50% deposit is ideal too. Don’t undersell yourself! You’re always worth more than you think

Set up rules and terms of service before you accept anything. People will try to take advantage of you and use up your time, so be sure to have rules set up ahead of time so you can turn rude clients away.

Make sure you have people interested and thar you have time. Be prepared for some weird answers (sometimes people feel like art should be free or they stop answering). And have a clear price guide.

Unless if you're some pro working for blizzard, don't get your hopes up for any commissions in the first month, but still don't be discouraged in opening them! Just keep em out in the open and someone will notice in time
