Daniel...honestly, listening to this song might have inspired some fleshing out of this character. While he doesn't fully align himself with any "God", nothing infuriates them more than televangelists and anyone who would prey on their faithful for a profit. Anyone who claims to know the true motives of any deity is just insufferable to him.
He likes humans, and doesn't like to see them suffer for such meaningless things. Which is why they pose as a bartender so people have someone to vent to after a long day at work or just rough day in general.
I need to come up with a human form for them...this character seems like they could be an interesting jumping off point for a little world.
