I’m not saying pale skin poc shouldn’t be represented in media but I hate how people are saying it to excuse hoyoverses colorism. if it was just a few pale characters of color, that’s one thing. Nearly Anytime hoyoverse wants to depict a character that’s based off a group of black/brown people, they’re almost always pale skin. Hoyoverse has characters that are based of certain races/ ethnicities like boothill and Aventurine from HSR, and most of the characters from Natlan+ sumeru but have pale skin. you can only use the “they are just representing pale poc” phrase so much. Hoyoverse has a history of racism +whitewashing so being colorist isn’t a surprise. If you’re going to make characters based off a culture, you should depict the people of the cultures accurately too. Representation matters.Jul 15, 2024
