Even with their high status and power Casters can be incredibly negligent. The Casters responsible for the protection of Karson's (one of the antagonists in my story) town abandon it. As a result the town gets absolutely destroyed by a horde of demons. There are few survivors. Karson steps up as a leader and swears he will find a way to protect his town without having to depend on Casters.
It's hard though. Karson is skilled with a crossbow, but he grew up as just a simple hunter. He doesn't have any magic, or enchanted weapons to fight back against demons. Out of despair Karson ventures to the demon responsible for the attacks on his town to make a deal.
The demon, Pilliwinks (fun old word meaning thumbscrews), eventually agrees to leave Karson's town alone, but only if he sacrifices the Casters that pass through his town.
Didn't think I would reveal this piece of lore on a CHRISTMAS PROMPT LIST of all things but OH well!~ when inspiration hits you better follow haha! I thought the snowglobe fit symbolically. Karson stuck inside, the demon watching his every move and giving the globe a nice shake whenever he considers breaking their deal.Dec 12, 2021
