Jackdaw’s GlowupMore Jackdawposting today! Jackdaw is one of my favourite character designs, I have such a soft spot for them, and I only love them more since updating their design 
I might’ve told the story here before but they began life as a humanised homage to She-Ra’s Double Trouble, in a fashion illustration for my Empty Pride collection. But they very quickly became their own character, so I refined their look to reflect that.
I find it difficult to word this because it matters a lot to me to get it right, but I very deliberately designed Jackdaw to have traits used in character design to indicate a character is evil, as well as traits also demonised in real life by bigots. So Jackdaw has a lot of triangular shape language, snake and corvid motifs, and a lime green and black colour palette, but also narrow eyes, a hooked nose, brown skin, and effeminate mannerisms.
But crucially, Jackdaw is a sweet, lovable, trustworthy character. A kid who felt the impact of real-world stereotypes growing up and saw themselves in the flamboyant villains of their childhood cartoons, so they eventually decided to spite the people who judged them and embrace their features by dressing like they’re on their way to take over the world (seen here in Crisiswear as I drew them for my fashion challenge).
They’re an aggressively supportive friend who would encourage you to indulge your weird and cringey passions, and express yourself at your most unconventional without judgement.Jun 18, 2022

•Ahhh yes, the queercoded Disney villain, but make them self aware. You’ve done a great job with their design, and all the thought you’ve put in comes across so well to an outside viewer ((also happy birthday!))
