Guys I have a genuine question about vent art. So yesterday, I was depressed because without getting too personal, I felt lonely and lack of self love. I then decided to do a couple of doodles of a trans (mtf) character being depressed. Do you think it’s appropriate for me (a cis person) to make vent art of a trans character in that way? I don’t want to offend anyone whether they are trans or nonbinary

Anything is fine tbh. You're not inappropriate because it's your vent art. No one can judge such a personal feeling. You can use anything you want to represent it. Although we cannot control how people can see our art, you're not doing it with a malicious intent. If anyone see it as a bad thing you can at least explain why you drew this and in which mood you were, how you relate to this character, ect... At least it's my point of view
I think it would be the same if I drew vent art of a cis character. it's okay as long as you are not mocking them, and it's more than okay if it's your character
I am not trans or nonbinary but I think the important question to ask is did you draw an existing trans character that is yours or someone else’s in a state of depression because you related to them or did you just draw a random trans character/person being depressed. Because I can understand the first one (you don’t necessarily have to share an identity with a character to relate to them) but if it’s the second to me that feels a little inappropriate and disrespectful.
