I've drawn Joren's Great Grandfather before, so this is his Great Grandmother.
Here is some lore that I can speak of. His great grandmother was very much into the occult too! Though she is not able to communicate or see spirits as Joren's Great Grandfather (bear with me -- they have yet to be named), she is very much in tune with the fires and she reads through them.
She usually helps Great Grandfather with rituals, including hunting and sacrificing living beings, potion-making and such. The two of them would aim for "immortality", not exactly the "living forever" physical kind, but some spiritual eternity and portal/dimension exploration.
In the 1980s, some time after the war, there was a rise in occult interest, and this was how she had met Joren's Great Grandfather, among other so-called occultists -- who turned out to be just witches (humans with no real magic). She too was interested in the occult and demonology, but had a family that didn't approve this. She later ran off to marry Joren's Great Grandfather, whom at the time had not much money.
Despite Joren being from a wealthy family, they didn't start off rich. His Great Great Grandfather was a poor man, and the house they live in was bought by Great Grandfather and was originally very small in a patch of undeveloped land. Only through the later success of Great Grandfather was he able to renovate the house a little, and then more as generations come.
Only a few days after Great Grandfather died (after a botched ritual -- Joren's Grandfather tried to stop it), then Great Grandmother died of "natural causes".
All of her pictures were removed from the family photos, so Joren never got to know her until some time later when Joren starts digging (literally).
I won't write so much now, but I was very much inspired by Addams Family when making Joren's family. It's not always true that interests are inherited through generations, but I do think they can influence. But take Joren's grandpa and dad for example, neither has interest in the spiritual dimension. Though they all have a common theme of interest in dead things.
I drew her in water, inspired by Cadaveria's video "Spell" because I loved the feeling of it. I tried to make the picture look vintage/1980s but it failed so I hope it at least looks nice.Jun 28, 2026
