Flash from the Sandro Botticelli painting Pallas and the Centaur. You know, that guy who painted the birth of Venus? Well the has some other cool art too :)

This particular painting was comissioned by Lorenzo de Medici. He symbolizes that in his painting by using versions of his signa, three rings, throughout her dress.
Athena would have actually been called Minerva at the time this painting was created. Rome was lazy so they are suspiciously similar. It is also possible she could be Camilla, an exiled princess raised in the forest to be a huntress. It is more then a tad different then a Major deity of War and Wisdom, but that's what I love about art. You can interpret the narrative to feel what you want.
