Textured paper

Textured rough/toothy paper for pastels is nice. I would recommend trying a coloured Mi-tientes paper or anything similar. You can buy smaller pads of it or there are usually very large single sheets available at art stores for around $1-3(CAD) :-)

I think they make textured paper specially for soft pastels.
