•Their wings are a nightmare to draw but I love how good it end up looking

•For once Ariki is wearing red too
She doesn't do so much but red actually suits her well

She doesn't like to wear red because it reminds her of her shadow part

And here's a little bit of lore on Ariki :

Once when she was young, she tried to obtain more magic by using dark magic, without having to suffer the consequences of it
This experiment didn't end well, because it separated her from her shadow ( yes, Ariki doesn't have a physical shadow )
And the shadow gained consciousness, and as a shadow, she was the complete moral opposite of Ariki

That means that, as kind and protective Ariki is, as dangerous and blood thirsty her shadow would be.
Only one thing they shared, a certain violent side and combat skills.

Fearing this would cause a catastrophy, Ariki sealed the shadow in her body to prevent it to go out on its own

For some time though, the shadow would take over the body and commit questionable acts

And each time Ariki's mind would try and fight back.
That's how the black marks started to appear

But one day, everything changed : Ariki found Aelia ( a story for an other time)
After that, the shadow didn't try to take over the body as much as before.

It appear they have an other thing in common : the love for family. Ever since Aelia became their family, the two entities in one body began to slowly accept each other's presence. In order for the child to be safe, they had to be one again.

Shadow is attached to a lot of trauma for Ariki, so it's a bit hard for her to accept that
But she is trying to work on it, while raising her kids the best she can
That's why her markings get bigger and bigger
It's the shadow slowly becomming one with the body again

Oo so pretty, the wings definitely look like they took a long time to make— looks awesome tho, love Ariki's tattoos as well! Im guessing those are shadow's marking?

Is the shadow a seperate creature tied to Ariki that can function without her, or is it a part of her? I guess the question is, can the shadow escape without taking over Ariki's body?
