It's awfully fascinating to read about the production disaster that was Heaven's Gate, first released 1980. A film that was so much of a financial and critical disaster in its initial run that Transamerica effectively abandoned United Artists, leading to its eventual purchase by MGM a year later.
The animal abuse that happened behind the scenes was equally insane, and it led to the AHA(barred from the set for whatever reason)being contractually obligated to closely monitor the use of any animals used in any form of filmed media, and it's largely what led to the "No animals were harmed" disclaimer at the end of the credits for everything afterwards.Jul 30, 2021
