@oarf1sh's post on Artfol

Everybody is excited for ArtFight and that's cool, but what's a character permission you've had to add because people lack common sense? (Eg, drawing your character with a wildly different body type).

Alternatively, if this is your first fight (or you've been lucky so far), what's a detail of your character(s) you're worried people might get wrong or forget to include? 🤔

I think it's worth remembering that sometimes it's actually a lack of skill/experience rather than common sense, OR a misunderstanding of art styles, which either person could be doing... I've actually been having trouble getting people to not color my marshmallow-white skinned character with a natural tone, they probably thought it was a stylistic choice, and hopefully I've finally worded that clearly enough now, but I'm not going to be upset over free art that someone I don't know drew for me.

This will be my artfight number 5 and so far I've never got art that was upsetting. I Guess I got lucky, haha.
But I'm generally fine if people tweak stuff as long as the character stays recognisable, and the core stuff stays the same. You know like skin colour, body type, gender and so on.

If I think some part of my design is confusing or can be misinterpreted I clarify it in the characters permissions.
So I don't particularly worry about people getting stuff wrong. I've done everything I can and if someone doesn't read character permissions that's on them not me.

I already have accepted that, most likely, someday someone is going to draw something I'm not going to be happy with. It's not fun, but that's just part of putting your stuff on the Internet. Some people are mean or careless and it's best not to take it to heart.

First time on ArtFight, so idk what to expect. I would say missing certain details such as tattoos or extra limbs.

I’m mostly worried about a specific character who is blind and most of the time wears bandages (he literally has no eyeballs), but I gave some options in case someone doesn’t like gore.

I made sure to include a list of every dragon feature my ocs have, and one of them has a reference sheet where I point to all of them and label them to make it VERY clear. I also state that they should include all their features. I've received art (not on artfight but for a secret santa) where they just forgot their scales entirely, and gave one character horns who doesn't have them?? Like not even forgot to draw horns, but added them when they shouldn't be there!

That one of my characters who has four eyes HAS FOUR EYES. I’m not mad at it since I actually find it incredibly silly; I’d imagine that person just quickly made the art without too much care since it was a revenge piece, they interpreted the upper eyes as eyebrows, lol.

Other than that, I’ve since specified all very basic & obvious details of all of my characters’ designs & outfits just to clear up any possible misconceptions, which does include the colors of the character since some screens may not show the colors correctly & not everyone colorpicks or is able to colorpick from the art!

Last year was my first year so I went to random accounts to read their permissions and added stuff I thought could apply to my characters. Luckily, everyone who drew one of my characters didn't miss out on any major details.

If anything, I'm more concerned about someone accidentally misgendering a character (which hasn't happened yet) so I make sure to include their pronouns.
