Die Fledermaus
After a series of problems with my email account I have hit upon the idea of using carrier pigeons. And so to that end I liberally spread breadcrumbs around on my windowsill. After a few days had only managed to attract some ratty looking seagulls, a pair of field mice and a rather desperate looking cat (though I think he was hanging about with a view to catching pigeons too, rather than in it for the bread). So, after much musing, I began sellotaping feathers to the mice and, after a few faltering starts and the occasional squeak-filled plummet, I give you: Mouse Mail. Our first carrier is named Terrence, he comes equipped with a compass, an obtuse sense of direction and is capable of carrying missives of up to 3 oz (though the heavier they are, the longer he takes to fly/drag them). Hear that squeaky flapping at the window? That could be him. Quick run, run to the window and let him in…I imagine this is how the Wicked Witch of the West felt the day she got her first flying monkeysMay 1, 2021
