QOTD| how do you hold your pencil? both writing and drawing

_____

how i wish to have pretty handwriting…

my writing and drawing grip is the same.

i usually have a normal grip, but instead of using index-middle-thumb i use middle-ring-thumb. sometimes i stick my index finger out, sometimes i use it to also grip.

on the same note, ive been trying to change my pen hold to a more ergonomic way (between index and middle and gripped with thumb)

The same as writing unless im drawing on paper and i have to draw realistic things then i have to hold it a different way :D
My mom has been yelling at me for years because apparently "no one taught me how to hold a pencil"
Which is true, in kindergarten they just gave us pencils and showed us which shapes to make for letters or numbers. So I hold pencils, pens, markers, etc. with my thumb, index, middle, and ring finger. The pinkie sticks out to stabilize when I'm drawing but otherwise it's the same.
I have a habit of pressing on my middle finger too hard when wrotong with pen/pencil, but when drawing i never have that problem even though my hold is the same??
I draw/write with my thumb and index, middle, ring with the pencil resting on the ring finger. Weird thing is that i also hold a spoon like this.
With my left hand.
I use my thumb and index-middle-ring fingers and the pencil rests against my index finger between the first and second knuckles.
The only time my hand hurts is if I’m gripping the pencil too hard or pressing down on the paper too hard, having a light grip really helps ergonomically.
As for nice handwriting, I think I have pretty decent handwriting and it’s 100% just mindful practice, and also finding a “font” that I like to use. You can find different fonts online etc and try out different ways of writing each letter, I did this awhile ago and now I have my own unique “font” that I use which is a mashup of a bunch of different styles I liked and some of my own flare :)
I tend to grip it with every finger save for the pinkie, plus the thumb. It gives more control but not having good handwriting is the price
Like normal, just index middle and thumb. I stick my pinky out without realizing it sometimes, lol
