My first entry of my thought processes when doing creative things. I've had this for a while, but I debated on posting these thoughts.
I decided to so for my own records and for anyone else interested, but this should keep me on track hopefully to finishing my work-in-progress.

Let’s meet the protagonists of my current work-in-progress, Threads & Petals Rebellion.
Fun fact all my protagonists are genderqueer in some way shape or form. Though that concept can be very… wibbly wobbly for a character where their culture does not have the concept of transness, just states of being that express internal essence. So sometimes the identifiers are more for the audiences' benefit to understand what that character is to “outsiders” in comparison to how that character views themself and their cultural ideas about gender.
This is Niihapaj, a 30 year old mute genderfluid assassin shaman rebel on a very long quest to end the cruel Imperial Rulers who killed her family of rebels trying to stop the slow motion genocide of their people and dissolve the Divine Cage that is slowly killing all life from the land itself. She is 5 foot 9 inches or around 175 centimeters tall, likes raw meat for its texture, determined, and extremely observant of everything, though she needs to sort out what is “relevant and important” from just “things she noticed.”
Her design and clothing is inspired by the Hmong people who live mostly in Laos. The other part of Niihapaj's design and personality is inspired by Oscar from Rose of Versailles and Utena from Revolutionary Girl Utena. So if you know who those characters are then you are either older than 28 or an enjoyer of very old gender bending animes that may or may not have awakened something inside you. Niihapaj goes through a more "flat" arc where she doesn't change much as a person, in fact she is very firm in the idea of who she is and what she must do with her life. Her story is more about how she navigates surviving and winning the war.
This is Tialon, a 27 year old multi-gendered intersex Imperial agent and eternal indentured servant (a slave) to the Imperial Rulers who stole him from his family after his mother tried to convince the Imperial Rulers to dissolve the Divine Cage that prevents anyone from leaving or entering their island. He is 5 foot 4 inches or around 163 centimeters tall, likes horses more than people, despises himself, never forgets a wrongdoing against him, and despite being a prodigy warrior is very bad at picking up basic social cues even when his life depends on it.
His design and clothing is inspired by the steppes people, particularly the Mongolians. The other part of his inspirations is based on the white haired "effeminate" dude villains or morally ambiguous dude archetypes found in many, so many animes to signify something "otherworldly" and "off" (something about them being too pretty as men). The "otherworldly" and "off" essence of these kind of characters are meant to be a sign that these characters are up to no good or will get up to no good. Tialon isn't the villain, but he will undergo a very transformative and hard journey to find a place in his own heart and fulfill his destiny.
Niihapaj and Tialon are enemies on opposing sides of a civil war to determine the very survival of their homeland, but whenever they both sleep at the same time they can feel the emotions and see partial events of the other's life in their own eyes. However the dream only gives both of them vague, fragmented details of the other's life which makes their connection both very familiar yet very distant from one another. The most each other know is that they are both involved in the civil war in some way, their general appearance, their names, and parts of each other's past. This has been going on for 8 years at this point.
Threads & Petals Rebellion will be mostly about the civil war, the bond Niihapaj and Tialon have to each other, and their connections with other people. I'll get going on making an art journal for the main villains, their hang ups, and inspirations. May good fortunes and safety come your way. See you next entry.Jun 17, 2024

ohh I hope you keep doing more of these, it was super interesting to reach through!! (I also appreciate the metric conversions because I can't visualise imperial for the life of me ajdns
