Good morning, afternoon, evening or night Artfol Community!
Quick ice-breaker exercise to help people branch out and network a little bit!
What cemented your artstyle/focal point/love for art?
Was it inspired by other artists? Maybe your love for a certain subject? Hellā maybe you've just done it for as long as you can remember!
For me, it's a little bit of everything!
I remember drawing pokĆØmon since I was little, which eventually branched out into drawing animals. As I grew up, my love for Cats became adamant, and as soon as I discovered the Warrior Cats books, I think that cemented my love for drawing Cats!
Reading stories about animals also supported my aspirations to create my own stories for my feline characters. And to this day, I'm still working on the world surrounding my Sketch Series!
As for my style? I'd sum that up to the Animation community on YouTube, Webcomics, Animated movies, as well as everyones favourite - trial, error and practice!
Networking on a new platform is always important, but sometimes taking the first step is a little stressful. So lets just start slow!
I hope to make a lot of new friends on this platform, and interact with other artists with the same interests, as well as artists with different interests!

oh my gOd are you me???? istg the whole PokĆ©mon/warrior cats phase were such a big part of me getting into art !!! iād gotten obsessed with the videos of people makin their own regions & so got super into drawin my own hehe ++ moved to a new school & discovered the furry fandom from a friend, so it was pretty much a downhill slope from there lmao >:p

the girl i had a slighhhht crush on was really good at drawing anime girls so i tried to impress her by following mark crilley tutorials and giving the drawing to her.... in the end i never did because i got really nervous (i still have the drawing). with this newfound skill i managed to impress the kids that didnt like me at school (i was like 10). i cant remember much of my childhood but i guess i just kept going for the next 8 years

ā¢Iāve always been an artsy person, but about a year ago one of my friends started sharing their art with me and that was The Beginning, then before I knew it I was a fool for art, always thinking about art or doing art. Iām a clown and art is my circus lol. About a year prior to that my dad started getting my brother and me into anime, so I think thatās where my first art style originated from!

ā¢I was always a very creative, artsy kid. Then when I was in grade school I had a babysitter who was really into manga and anime and amazing at drawing it as well. This was in the early 2000s, before anime was as mainstream as it is now as so easily accessible online, and my mind was just totally blown being introduced to this new art style that was so different and so cool. I wanted to replicate everything my babysitter drew. It also made me want to explore all the different kinds of art out there to see what else inspired me.

ā¢Yeah Iāve been drawing since I was 3-4 years old(22 currently). Over time thereās been changes in my work and I didnāt really start using a particular style until a couple years ago when I started to take art seriously as a career choice. Most of the inspiration started from styles of manga but then what really boosted my skill in it was getting into superhero comics(mostly DC) and learning a lot from those comic artists in addition to buying specific books for anatomy, perspective etc. I recommend for anyone who wants to get better at anatomy to study the artists who draw superheroes with an anatomical accuracy and also see if they have any sketches/process photos of their work to see how they break down the different body parts. Jim Lee is a great artist to look at who is easily one of if not the most legendary comic artist in the business and he has many videos of him drawing commissions that sprinkle in drawing principle/technique to help new artists learn fundamentals. Hope some of yāall take the time to check some of his work out and also mine lol.

ā¢Heyy!! For me, my love for art came from watching my older sister work with art as I was growing up

ā¢I always wanted to be able to show certain stories or scenes in art. I have never been a good writer so art is the next best thing, since a picture is worth a thousand words. I also have anxiety and art helps me unwind. I know that some people mark artistic achievement as to whether or not your work is entirely commissions, but for me that is hard because I like to draw for the sake of it, so I do a lot of requests, trades, etc. My first subject was also cats and then I branched out since I wanted to draw my humanoid characters, and it was more socially acceptable to draw people. I guess another part of why I do art is the competitive aspect, i like to mark my improvement towards an idealized style i have in mind.

ā¢I used to watch a YouTuber Aphmau and she would post a series called Mystreet and I was really into it. I saw fanart for it and I thought āI wanna be able to do thatā and I started drawing and now here we are 6 years later lmao
