I have no idea why Artfol doesn't give you a notification when someone sends you a DM.
Then I just get the feeling of "Oh no I didn't respond to their message on the spot on no now they think I ignored them beforehand oh no"...

It's a bug, but it's been reported and the devs are looking into it to try and fix it!
