I'm in design school and realised that I'm not actually that good and almost everyone else in my class was way better than me
I did improve in my art skills though so that's something

I went to community college but very specifically for graphic design/ a visual arts degree. I genuinely think most of the technical skills you learn in art school can be learned in your own time through dedicated study, HOWEVER...the most important part of school for me wasn't the technical art skills. It was the SOCIAL skills. Working in groups, being part of a cohort of other art students, learning to cooperate or critique in meaningful ways and being part of a small art community did more for me than anything else I learned! Art skills come naturally over time if you're dedicated enough. But social or networking skills cannot be learned on your own! Learning to socialize with other creatives made a world of a difference, seriously.

•So I only went as an art major for a semester at a two year college not an actual art school, I thought it was great for my skills and I loved it but I personally realized really fast I didn't want to put so much energy into classes when I could get where I wanna get job wise without it, it really depends on what you're doing with your art. It's really hard too, like I really struggled with keeping up because they are fitting so much into one semester but idk if that's just a my college thing, I personally enjoyed my time but I do think it was a waist

Ok so this only partially applies to me since I haven’t gone gone to art school, but I’ve done weekend classes and a 2 week program where I lived in the college dorms. Honestly, I think I improved my art quite a bit. Being surrounded by other creatives is very inspiring, the classes push you to get through a lot of practice to solidify your understanding of the basics, most people were really chill there, and having so many people in group critiques provides a lot of fresh perspectives and ideas. 10/10, will be doing the program again this year, single-handedly temporarily cured my depression (I am not even kidding)
That’s just my experience tho!
