The Good Shepherd - 20250908
I did another digital art piece once again, and this time it’s my entry for a draw-this-in-your-style challenge hosted by Auroras_Sketchbook08. This artwork is also one of my baby steps in learning kidlit style art, so it’s both practice and a fun challenge for me.For this piece, I chose to depict our Lord as the Good Shepherd. I aimed for a touch of historical accuracy in His look—dark curly hair, a short beard, and a simple robe with a belt and cloak. In the artwork, He is smiling warmly while holding two sheep: one resting happily on His shoulder, and the other cradled in His arm, looking up at Him with gentle, trusting eyes. The soft hills, blue sky, and fluffy clouds in the background add to the childlike and storybook feel that I was aiming for.
On the side, I included His words from John 10:11:
“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives his life for the sheep.”
I think the artwork turned out fine overall, and I’m glad I was able to capture a kind and peaceful atmosphere. But since I’m still just taking baby steps into the kidlit style, I know there are plenty of things I need to improve for next time—like making the colours blend more smoothly, adjusting proportions to feel even softer, and adding more playful detail to the setting.
Still, I see this as a meaningful step in my art journey, and I’m happy to share it as both an offering of practice and of faith.Sep 8, 2025
