I just do colour splodgies on a separate layer and open the document again if I need colour refs for the character... I keep every original file after saving the PNG version I then upload

I don't, I either use the color picker or I just pick my colors randomly and see what works lol

I don't make color palettes I just save random colors I'd frequently use and just call that a palette cause fight me

Coolors.co is a website you can use to generate a color palette at random. I’ve been using this to experiment with different colors.

I just choose the colors that work nice together and use them lol, I rarely visit those palette websites, only when I’m a bit clueless of what scheme I should go for.
And by the way, which software do you use that only allows a limited amount of colors to be kept? The only one I could think of was MS Paint, but I might be wrong. :P

•I cheat to get color palettes lol. Like. I'll find a picture with colors I like, and then after I do my flats in photoshop I duplicate that layer, go to "gradient maps", use the colors from the photo to make a gradient, and then I mess around with the blending modes and opacity to make it look natural with the background. I even use gradient maps and "color" mode layers to get whatever look I'm going for.

I usually pick a photograph with a vibe I really like, then I pick all my colours from there to create a cohesive palette! (Then it's also easier to pick other colours that fit in) you can do it in any program, good luck!!
