The Flatwoods Monster
The Flatwoods monster is a cryptid or alien reportedly sighted in the town of Flatwoods in Braxton County, West Virginia.The story goes that on September 12, 1952, a group of people said they saw a bright object cross the sky. They traveled to where the object crashed, traveling on top of a hill, only to see what they describe as a large pulsating ball of light. Around this time, a mist surrounded them, which had a pungent smell and made their eyes burn.
One of the members saw two bright lights over to the left of the object and pointed his flashlight at it, revealing the creature. They described it as being around 10ft tall with a round blood-red face, a hood resembling an ace of spades, eye-like shapes with a yellow coloring, and a green and black body.
The creature, when the light was shined on it, let out a hissing noise before gliding towards them, causing the group to run for their lives.
When they got home, they contacted the police and took them to where they encountered the creature, but they didn't find anything, Not the glowing object, not the monster, nothing, except that they smelled a strange metallic odor.
What the Flatwoods monster was is still debated. Some believe it to be an extraterrestrial but others think that it was merely just an owl, distorted by the group's fear.Oct 18, 2024
