Jokes aside, I think my OCs live inside my head because I don't ever feel any part of the process is mundane. It's just part of daily life for me to world and character build. I come up with ideas and stuff when I don't want to
My characters like to torment me with their backstories. Coming up with stuff for me feels more like my OC materializing next to me to tell me their life story while I'm trying to respond to emails.

•For me I use one of those whiteboard apps, draw a timeline of what I have so far, then I go brainstorming any plot holes that come up until the timeline makes sense :>
