It's not like they could hide that accent anyway 
Actually, something that caught me completely off guard is that when I got to visit New York a couple years ago, I went all over Western and Upstate NY but not to NYC. Apparently that famous accent is relegated to that part of the state, because in Buffalo and western NY (and upstate to a lesser extent) they sound kinda like people from the upper Midwest.

No fr, there's this girl who isn't even in my class but she stops by a lot, I don't know her name, I don't know her grade or really much other than she used to live in New York and was supposedly in a gang (kinda doubt it)
