Cupid’s Arrows
#inktober Day 7! Cupid’s Arrows
For just about all my life I’ve always wanted someone to be with romantically, but I always thought that my first love would be like a fairy tale. I had such high and false expectations for what it was like to fall in love with someone and to be loved by someone else. I turned down everyone that didn’t meet this terribly high standard. And I was also afraid, it didn’t feel like I was actually desired. And looking back I wish I could have told myself that I could be loved, and that it was alright to let myself be vulnerable to the idea of being with just a person, a person with flaws and a life ahead of them and not just the expectation that I was gonna fall in love with someone at the age of 14 and stay with them for the rest of my life. I think I pressured myself into that idea because it was all that I was exposed to. It really hasn’t been until the past couple years that I’ve finally let all of that go and have felt ready to being open to an actual human, and that finding someone that I like will come with time and I don’t have to love them to go out with them, but feelings can grow naturally. It doesn’t mean I don’t like the idea of that high standard fairy tail love, but that’s something far far later in my life when I want to settle down. I’m 15 and just want to hold hands with somebody pfft- it’s true. I do wonder though what you guys think of the idea of romance.
