Is This Character Design Appropriate? So if you have seen my previous text post, this is what I was talking about. I drew this random doodle for fun, it was quick and easy. I think I'll continue on it, maybe?
Okay, as you can tell I was trying for a Black character design but the thing is, I'm not black. It would be very helpful if some real Black artists can tell me if this is appropriate or not, and what I can do to improve. I didn't use any reference, I just felt a bit inspired to draw this to pass the time. I know if I do choose to continue on this I'll use references to help me.
Focusing on the hair, I was thinking of pom poms + an afro. I was imagining it like an afro but shaped like pom poms but in a solid state instead of stringy, does that make sense? I don't know how to draw braids that are close to the scalp but I imagined she has braids then the twin buns. I love the edge hairstyles, but I'm not familiar with them so I only put those two on for the idea to be seen. The two side braids also have a mini pom pom inspired look at the ends with a bead on each. Is this hairstyle appropriate or even possible?
The facial features I drew seem a bit too simple. I definitely know I need to use references. The nose seems more Asian than Black (I'm mixed Asian btw).
