The worst is when it’s a character you’ve legit never heard of that’s not even been around as long as your OC has because then it makes you feel like you have to defend your original idea as something that at the time of creation was totally unique!

•It really does bring down my self esteem sometimes. Especially if it's a repeated thing . Like damn I'd feel so unoriginal and 'stupid" that I couldn't come up with a more " special" design. Ik it's not usually that deep but some people do have that underlying snark of "lol you just copied and changed a few details".
It only happened once to me but still. Every since then I try fucking hard to avoid that.
Side note, this never happened to me personally but it Especially worse when they compare it to SOMEONE ELSE OC YOU NEVER HEARD OF?? Like cool we probably consume Samish media or something but don't accuse me for "stealing" because they have the same hair and aesthetic

I like it when ppl are reminded of smth familiar to them when they see a character of mine. It makes me feel like they understand what I was thinking. So I like it better when ppl make comparisons concerning my art then just a baseless compliment.

I haven't gotten it a lot personally but when it does happen it's so aggravating, even if they mean it in a nice way
I have this one character I had for 7 years now who's appearance hasn't changed much since the start
And people keep asking me if she's based off this one character that debuted in a show like 2 - 3 years after I made her

•I came up with Kaleb's design before I even knew what anime was. It's pure coincidence that they ended up looking a lot alike. Tite Kubo doesn't own spiky orange haired boys, so leave me alone smh.
