AniMalia Lore: FaeKin [Fancy Text Post]

*FaeKin: who are they?
Faes are one of the oldest population roaming around AniMalia, being born from the blood of the Old Gods.
As such, they retain a faint trace of what the Old Gods powers were. You can see that in their appearance too: very human-like while still sharing some resemblance of the Ancient Beasts typical of the God they were born from.

To navigate this new world, Faes developed the ability to mask their appearance (usually they mix and match two kind of animals) while still using coloured lens to cover their natural black sclera.

Being born from the blood of the Old Gods, they all are males. The main consequence of this is that they do have a very low percentage of offspring that will inherit the fae traits (around 5%) and an even lower percentage of females (around the 0.003%).
People define them as “parasitic” even though they’re a non violent population that cause no harm: ironically you could grow up with the child of a fae and never know that.

*Children of the FaeKin
Strictly speaking, FaeKin are all the faes that emerged from the blood of the Old Gods. Their children- the ones who inherit the fae traits- are most commonly defined just as “faes”.
Faes are distinguishable from the moment they’re born, for their appearance is way more similar to the humanoid-like one of their father + some animal traits.

Their upbringing is unconventional: raised mostly by their father and older sibilings, they’re unable to mask their true form and so can’t interact with people outside the “court”. Usually they’re gifted a masking jewel at their 18th birthday by their father or- in rare cases- by their father’s blood brother (depending on their relationship). NB- Female faes might get their masking jewel from their prospect husband!
