Sometimes I do. It's no different than being aware of your surroundings when you're awake. The weirdest thing to me is having a nightmare, realizing it's one, and then being convinced that I'm awake until, nope, still a nightmare. Ugliest feeling in the dreams is when I need to run and it feels like I'm literally moving in such a slow motion it feels like I'm barely moving at all. And then it usually ends there because of the distinct feeling of having no business being there, 'cause that's not where "life" is.
