Verdigris Deep
Author: Frances Hardinge
Rating: 4/5

Synopsis: When Ryan, Chelle and Josh steal coins from a wishing well, strange powers manifest in them, and the spirit of the well demands that they help to grant the wishes of the coins they stole (titled Well-witched in the US)

This was a fun read! It was well paced and the characters and plot were well thought out. I really liked Chelle and found her relatable (as in she talks nonstop which I also do). I was actually creeped out at some parts too, like when it was all dark and josh was outside Ryan's house (I also read that part at night and I get scared easily but still)
I liked how the wishes go deeper than even the wisher realises. That somehow never occurred to me before reading it. I also love how the kids just keep dunking on the wishers they have to help, it cracked me up.
The only thing that didn't sit right with me was that they forgave Josh way too easily. They really just forgot how he was mean to them huh😭 but josh did seem to become better at the end and really care about them so good for them ig
I could actually see this as a TV series where they solve different wishes every episode, but that may drag after a while but I would totally watch it if it was real.
