five year anniversary
i was sixteen when i was outed as trans to my parents. it was world-shattering. i've spent the past five years picking up the pieces, building a new life for myself.last year, i graduated university, surprising myself and probably some of my professors too. last month, i moved states to start a job as a user experience designer. i spent the majority of my life unable to conceptualise a future. now i am living it.
i celebrate this anniversary to reflect on how far i have come. i celebrate it for that small, scared kid, who never thought we would make it this far. survival itself is a radical act.
