Desperado is my favorite movie. I'm a big fan of Roberto Rodriguez and his movies, but Desperado especially. El Mariachi (Antonio Banderas) and Catarina (Selma Hayek) have such great chemistry together. I decided to do this piece has my continued portrait practice. It was my first time drawing an explosion, but nothing says 90's action flick, like an explosion in the background. Hardest part of this piece was Catarina's gun. In the reference, it was completely in shadow (or at least it looked that way, it was a very low res pic) so I had to guess at it and guns aren't something I usually draw. Should I have looked up a reference, probably. I think I did pretty good on getting a likeness, still could be better though.May 25, 2024#desperado
