I really wish artists would take up serious themes in their art more often. I would like to see the disclosure of social problems, complex emotions, experiences not only in the paintings of well-known artists, but simply on the Internet. I understand why people draw beautiful boys and girls against plain backgrounds. it's trendy and people buy it. just like everyone used to draw saints on icons, so now we draw anime characters (this is not a comparison and not an attempt to offend the feelings of believers).
I want people's creativity to be uncomfortable, causing not only positive, but also negative emotions. I want to get to know more people through art. I want people to show themselves, other people and the world realistically, as it is, beautiful and ugly, generous and cruel at the same time. I want people to stop drawing the perfect picture and be more honest. I myself strive for this and want to know more people who support this idea.Jul 17, 2023

•Oh you'd love my art uni application portfolio. Which i sadly can't post about because I am deadly afraid of breaking the rules of application. It is also, as most abstract 'ugly' art not well received on the internet or downright breaking social media rules.
It is also very personal and hard to explain.
Believe me, people do not only draw "pretty pictures ". Even those that earn their livelihood with "pretty pictures" do not.
The reason you basically only see all those 'plain' artworks is because they are easily digestible for the casual scroller after a hard day of work and the algorithm decided that this is what we have to want.

•I understand your pov! I just think it’s kind of unfair to think that all artists who draw cutesy stuff don’t do serious themes, or draw what they draw because it’s trendy. A lot of serious issues can be exolored in art styles that are usually cutesy or kid like . Avatar the last air bender is a really good example of this! It touches on a lot of sensitive topics and all the characters are pretty and the art style is very anime ish. Violet evergarden is a beautiful anime , all the characters are absolutely gorgeous but it still manages to explore serious topics. Wonder egg priority , blue period , adventure time and midnight gospel all manage to do this even though they have childish art styles. I don’t think it’s the art style that matters but what you decide to do with it

•Well I like to tell stories through my art and writing, tho I am still trying to learn how to depict what I want to tell in a good and meaningful way. I'm also a little burnt out from art school, so I'm just drawing simpler stuff that makes me happy to get my passion back where it once was. I have stories in my head that I want to tell, with struggles I feel myself, and I will do art about that in the future, just not now, I need to recover first.

I personally want to draw stuff that makes me happy so its misleading to make a blanket assumption like that. Personally for me, there's enough depressing stuff happening, I dont want to force myself to also convey my distraught in my art. And artists who draw for clout only without any joy in the process dont make it past a year without heavy burnout because theres no soul in their work.
Expressing social issues, emotions, etc is good if you thrive off art that way but not everyone does and it's important to understand everyone does art for a different reason and respect that. I understand your yearning though and it sounds like you haven't found "your people" yet, but they exist.

•Yeah i love it when other artist would have more personal illustrations that go into depth into their emotions like Qinni. But for me.. im too scared to do that :,)
