@pixelatedstarlight's post on Artfol

this is kind of a long rant sorry

I hate that so many sites for art are becoming unusable now. every time I turn on my computer I get a youtube video that says "Twitter is using ai now" pinterest is partnering with openai" WHY ARE WE GETTING RID OF PLATFORMS FOR ARTISTS???? even artfol isn't doing so good! (i don't mean artfol is using ai). the app and website have been so glitchy recently that they barely open. and even if its for maintenance ARTFOL NEVER SAYS ANYTHING!! it would be nice to at least get a update on their yt or something >:( or maybe have votes on things to add instead of breaking the app with a Cool New Feature we don't get told anything about! or maybe fix the challenge tab sometime? I've never even SEEN it work and I've been here for almost 4 months! all that I can tell has been added since I've joined is ads! AND THEY DONT EVEN WORK! I love this app and everyone on it is so cool but, I wish it wasn't so glitchy!

What I find interesting about the ai thing is that many people are NOW noticing that it's not just an artist problem it's ALMOST everyones problem but I swear that before twitter had the ai controversy some people were able to the lude thing from peoples pictures and that even when ai was first uncanny we humans post alot of content online so of course ai will take that to 'improve' itself
I hate AI 😠
Ok so…
1. The recent feature updates have nothing to do with the loading issue. It is even handled by a different part of the team. So when they add new features it has no effect on the speed of bug fixes.
2. They put out a post 3 days ago talking about the cause of the bug and how they are addressing it. It is something to do with the site checking if you are a paid member or not.
3. The hard pill to swallow is the site needed to change to attract more people to get more revenue to keep it running. I was briefly around near the end of the first wave of people and you could clearly see people moving back to places like Instagram/twitter. It just didn’t have enough features to keep engaged. Same happened with Cara. They grew too fast instead of growing organically.. Artfol eventually changed but bugs came. The site might be 4-5 years old but I don’t think it was ever given the breather beta projects need. So this might be like a forced breather .^.
also I don't mean that the team behind artfol is bad. its definitely hard for a small team to keep a website like this running so prop to them for that! I just wish they would stop adding broken updates without saying anything :(
