Today I was thinking about photography and how people photograph the same things. Then I questioned what makes people’s work so unique if they are photographing the same thing? I think to myself, it is the way that they photograph things within the camera as well as their editing process. I looked at the photos that both of my friends took of me and compared the two. I thought how would you be able to tell the difference between these two photographers. Well I felt that one of my friends edits in a way that her photos has this warm calm feeling. And the work she creates has a very similar editing style. My other friend has a style but I can’t pin point exactly what it is. All I know in her work is that she is very drawn to landscape and fashion photography. This made me question my style and the types of photographs I want to take. The only thing that I know about my work is that some of it is sharp and I always seem to have a black background. Aside from this, this year I became more motivated to start creating work again. But now I feel that I am struggling to find the types of photos that I want to be taking for a career as well as for myself. The photos I take for myself I am struggling to know why I take those photos. Well It is usually because I see something interesting or I have a specific idea that would be cool. I just don’t know the deeper meaning to them and what they mean. All I know is that I take a picture and let viewers decide what they mean. And I know that some people have said that it is okay not to know. But I really want to know what is the deeper meaning in each of the photographs I take are. Maybe I don’t have to know and let each of my photos speak for themselves. Thinking about this made me want to archive a lot of my photos on my Instagram page to make it more me in the style that I have, and, the types of photos I want to create. I feel like some people have an idea as to what type of photographer they want to be. While as for me I feel like I am still exploring. But after archiving or cleaning my Instagram to make it more me I began to look up types of photography careers I can go into and start making work for that. I wrote a list down to what I saw within my work. I find that I take portraits of people as well as still life. I just need to know where to begin and what to do to find the right photography career path for me, as well as finding what types of photographs I want to take and dig deeper into what I want to get at with my work.Feb 4, 2022
