Did you guys, gals & non-binary pals watch Encanto? What did you think about it? Do you think Abuela deserved to be forgotten so easily/fast?

Personally I didn’t think she deserved to be that easily forgiven but that’s just my opinion 💁🏽

It’s complicated
Families are like that sometimes, as in toxic yet forgiving/forgetful
Eh I don’t know and don’t really care- you can ask my friend who is obsessed with that movie but I have no opinions
Abuela is a character who needs to be discussed with heavy amounts of nuance and can’t just strictly be described as good or bad. it doesn’t matter if she “deserved” to be forgiven so fast, it matters that her family was able to listen to her and understand why she behaved the way that she did. it matters that shes shown putting effort into changing the way she treats her family because she realized that she was hurting them. it matters that she didn’t realize that what she was doing was even causing harm in the first place because she was so blinded by her own trauma.

and Casita took months to rebuild. there are so many discussions and apologies that we never get to see.
Abuela isn’t even the only one to blame. Julietta and Pepa are also responsible for prolonging the treatment and that isn’t something that should be forgotten. if people want to argue that Abuela’s trauma is not reason for her to act that way, then it isn’t reason for Julietta and Pepa to either.

the family trauma started with Abuela, not because of her. it doesn’t matter if she deserved to be forgiven, it matters that she was.
Yes! And I loved it! One of my favourite films 💓
Also Yes and no
I feel like the family would be bit distant from her for some time because of the way she acted towards them like they will forgive but they can't forget this y'know? But I think they'll warm up to her soon tho
And they'll forgive her completely
Sorry for the rant lol
