The New York Times has launched a series where their critics and notable people share their ballots for what they think are the best movies of the 21st century. Here's what I put in if you're interested, with some short commentary to go along with it and in no particular order:
-Shrek: fractured fairy tales can't get much better than this.
-Surf's Up: a hilarious and extremely quotable animated mockumentary.
-Minority Report: what Psycho-Pass wishes it could be.
-Isle of Dogs: ambitious stop-motion perfection.
-Hot Fuzz: the second-tastiest flavor of the Cornetto Trilogy.
-The Adventures of Tintin: the best-looking mocap film I've seen.
-Shaun of the Dead: the tastiest flavor of the Cornetto Trilogy.
-Finding Nemo: my favorite Pixar joint by far.
-Better Man: super ambitious and emotionally devastating music biopic.
-Spider-Man: Across the Spiderverse: superhero movie perfection, animated or otherwise.
