I’m Vera, an illustrator based in Malaysia.I wonder why I have 6000++ followers on IG but my post only reached 200++ of my followers and including 10++ non-followers. I only got less than 100 likes for my post. I know I shouldn’t care too much about the amount, but it really makes me feel upsetting and doubting that if my art really that bad which people don’t even bother giving it a like?
I just don’t like how IG works now and those random reels and videos from TikTok go viral on IG. And it keeps showing me the posts from those people I don’t follow on my feed. I have to manually swift the setting at the top left. That’s just too annoying for me. If I want to see others, I can just go the “explore” page to explore my own.
Anyway, I just want to express my thoughts and feelings toward IG. I’ve been stressed and depressed to post my art on there as my art can’t be seen even by me followers.Jan 29, 2023

I have 22k Follows from all that DTIYS stuff from 2018-2019 and checked to make sure those weren't bot accounts back then. I get about 50 likes a post now 
it's kinda sad but I don't do reels and I don't spend much time on there anymore.
Followers and likes never dictate / indicate the quality of your work so I'm not bothered by it anymore. It is what it is.
The follow tab in the top right area is nice though so I can see chronological order of posts from people I follow.
And people who talk about 12-15 hashtags or "act like they know the algorithm" never back it up with proof so we're all in this loop of "this is what I think works for the algorithm" when it probably may contribute but probably not that much in the whole scheme of things.
