Hermes and Cerberus

So this is my cave study. I know you should keep studies simple but my brain doesn't work that way and needs to have something exciting to focus on so that's why it's a Greek mythology piece instead of a generic cave.
So anyway for this painting I did the yellow highlights first than did my usual monochrome ubderpainting of the shadows and then went in with the color while trying to preserve the yellow as much as possible.
Let me know what you think about the background in particular cause that is what I have to recreate for the commission.Nov 15, 2022

Wish I could help you, have no clue how to draw enviroment or painting. But read your prev post ab the light source(?). The main source now are the tongues right? Really like that idea:) And like that there are some blue/green in the back. How deep is the background/cave? Just thinking that maaaaaybe some highlits (like the white on the purple)? I really like how warm this painting feels, this looks like a precious moment :)
