Have you heard of the Etsy strike?
I think it’s important to mention the Etsy users strike on here
some of the things I heard as to why:
.shutting down shops without rightful consent
.Limiting how much users can sell
.raising monthly fees to an unheard of amount(someone said they had 4000 dollars taken)
.messaging clients on behalf of a creator without consent saying they cannot sell or complete orders

- record profits over the pandemic, and they're STILL raising fees to a ridiculous amount. - this is the main reason for the strike.
- a lot of artists are talking about how the fees aren't overly transparent. They seem to add a fee wherever they can.
- not getting rid of reseller accounts, despite the fact its against their TOS.
- if your item sells due to an off-site ad, they take a further 15-25% in fees.
- .... It is not possible to opt out of off site ads.
- apparently general terrible customer service to sellers.
There's honestly just SO many reasons to strike and I support all of them. I just hate how such a GOOD website for helping small businesses grow has been ruined by corporate greed and there's no real alternative :(. Especially coming from the UK, where a lot of artists don't ship to from their personal stores since places like Shopify or bigcartel can't calculate vat at checkout. But Etsy does :(.
