《 Shading practice 》I usually do cell shading and today i wanted to test out my semi realism skills. I like drawing eyes so i decided to practice shading them y not.
What do u think of the shading? Are the colors good? Is it blended well? Would u like to see full art in this style in the future?Mar 20, 2022
It's really pretty! If you want to improve in painting even more I would suggest really doing studies that really make you push values, like painting a dramatically lit face. I love this style but maybe studying from a real picture to understand the base form would help you. I think maybe it feels a little flat to me and value and form would push it to that next level. Hope this helps a little (also Im suggesting stuff that I should really be doing myself but don't, so take it a pinch of salt lol)
It's hard for me to find critique over this because it looks utterly stunning. I think the shading and lighting is done right. Maybe the shadows should be a bit darker over the lids— depending where the light is hitting. But it's so small that you don't need to do it. Also, the eye sockets tend to look darker rather than lighter.
But otherwise, the eyes look magnificent And adding a puple hue around the eye and the lids adds an extra touch of realism, since that's how the veins look.
