Often Unmentioned Skills of the ConcentosAnnnd the full set of doodles I made for that challenge I wanted to start!
Because the theme is "Often Unmentioned Skills", I wanted to draw quick doodles of the Concento siblings showing off things they're good at that AREN'T the thing they do for a living.
Like... Requiem's biggest skill is languages but he is a translator so it doesn't count for this. And Serenade can sing and play guitar but that's his livelihood too so NOPE. Minuet gets to claim singing because he's a farmer and singing isn't exactly crucial to that job!
Now, Serenade and Song's chosen skills ARE beneficial to their jobs, but they didn't actually take up those skills with the intention of using them for a living.
I also left out the skills they ALL share due to how they were raised, though. Like how they all know a thing or two about horses because their mother raises them, and how they all have at least a basic knowledge of self-defense because their uncle is a martial-arts instructor. Some are more skilled than others but it's still not worthy of being brought up here!
(On those skills, Bolero, Minuet and Song could decimate any of their other brothers in combat if needed. Requiem might too though he would rely on magic to make up for what he lacks in strength. Aaand Prelude could outrun anyone else. Bolero, Minuet and Lullaby are the ones most comfortable around horses.)
And now, time to go through EVERYONE so prepare for a rambly wall of text!
Bolero is a smith by trade. He makes furniture and other trinkets from wood and metal. Cool stuff! But he's also really good at cooking! It's... less a matter of passion and more of necessity, though. Bolero LOVES spicy food and sometimes it can be hard to just find stuff he doesn't find bland ready made. Or then he'd have to eat the same foreign-style foods from restaurants all the time. He just figured it's easier to make his own and make it JUST the way he likes it! Though be warned if you choose to dine at his place: If he made it, it's gonna be SPICY.
Also fun fact: His shirt here is based on a shirt his BJD(Ball-jointed doll) form has. :3c I really like that shirt even if it's super shiny, heh.
Prelude was the sibling who embraced computers from a young age. He's the guy who knew all the popular PC games and places to chat with his fellow geeks. Sword & Sorcery roleplay was one of his favourite things, both in MMOs and on forums. Now, Prelude doesn't have aspirations to write a book but he LOVES collaborative storytelling and being a dungeon master... Not to forget making all the voices for each character! He may have gone to work as a scientist in some confidential government agency, but that doesn't mean he won't do his best to find the time to geek out with his online friends!
Requiem isn't really interested in plants but a combination of the siblings' dad being a florist and thus having grown up surrounded by flowers, and Requiem having made a pact with a fae spirit of the meadows gave him an uncanny understanding of plants. If your little ficus is dying and you have no idea why, you can just dump it on Requiem. He may not want it, he may not really have the time, but he won't be able to say no without feeling sorry for the plant. Fine, FINE, he'll look at your dumb plant for a while. Just come get it in three days since Requiem has a business trip coming up.
Lament was always the art kid. He sees a new method of making art and he's immediately interested and likely will master it at remarkable speed. Eventually composing music became his main passion but he still loves arts and crafts, especially needlepainting. It's just so convenient! No need to carry paints or water or copious amounts of pencils or markers. Just some coloured threads, a needle and the project itself. And the resulting piece can be used for several different things too! Maybe a fabric patch? A pillowcase? Notebook cover? The applications are endless!
Serenade's skill is another one born out of necessity... kinda. When he was a teenager, he had this phase where he felt super insecure about having super poofy hair like his dad's. He's a metalhead and he wanted to look like one! He wanted to have long, straight hair like his idols! And so, he learned to straighten his hair which with hair like that must have been quite a chore. And then he found the joy of just. Tying his hair up on braids and ponytails and manbuns and whatever else you could think of, and his bandmates took notice too! You know... Going to a hairdresser to have your hair styled and dyed like your stage character's is kinda expensive for a student... You wouldn't mind doing everyone else's hair too? Sammy needs a dyejob and Tuuka just needs a trim... And Roni's hair probably was a mess until he realized Serenade could help with his slimy bird's nest of seaweed-like hair.
Lullaby is a writer/poet by trade and spends a lot of time alone at home. And I mean a LOT of time alone. He's definitely a homebody. But he also has a bit of a sweet tooth and whenever he's having trouble with a scene or a piece, he can bribe himself to focus by telling himself he'll make himself something nice once that roadblock has been dealt with! He sure can whip up some impressive pastries, cakes and such. And if you're planning to host a party, Lullaby may be willing to give you a hand with the preparation!
Minuet's got a really soft, pleasant voice when talking and it gets even better when he sings! It's really a shame he's not too interested in actually performing. Honestly, he'd probably get too nervous to do a good job if you DID throw him in front of a crowd and tell him to sing! He'll leave performing to Serenade! Though there may have been a couple of times when Serenade has convinced Minuet to do backing vocals on some of his band's songs.... :3c If it's just a mic and a room, it's fine. The walls won't judge him any more than his crops do back home on the farm. Just... Don't put his name on there. He doesn't wanna have his name out in the know of the world!
Song is a veterinarian and together with Minuet has a tiny non-profit animal shelter on the same farm where Minuet crows his crops. Song works full-time and then comes back home to care for the rescue animals... and takes a LOT of pictures of them to share online in hopes of finding them good homes! She'd defo have one of those big Facebook pages that everyone local knows of and where middle-aged women post a ton of heart emojis and cat gifs saying how the lost animals are safe and in good care now. Over the years Song really grew passionate about taking good photos and videos of the rescues!
Also no, I couldn't be bothered to draw the camera properly. xDD I know nothing about fancy cameras, lol.
And that's all of those!
Now to figure out what to work on next. I have so many WIPs... Both drawn and written. We'll see what character development challenge I might whip up next and when!Jul 27, 2021
